WALL STREET JOURNAL: M. Singer Experience Launch

"If you Google a picture or Matthew Singer, you'll likely find him wearing a suit. But Mr. Singer, who until recently the men's fashion director of Neiman Marcus, is going in a different direction with his debut collection, the M. Singer Experience.

The line, launching today on flash-sale site Gilt is a sophisticated slacker's dream. It's populated with subtly detailed basics- buttery tees with curved hems, just-slouchy-enough chinos with a tuxedo strip- in a . soft natural pallete. To ensure the clothes work for a wider range of men, not just fashion folk, Mr. Singer used his friends- including Wall Streeters and lawyers- as fit models. Mr. Singer is hoping he's made casual menswear that's beyond effortless. "You can take any T- shirt and pair it with any shorts," he said, "It's Garanimals for dudes." Production has already finished on his fall collection. Things to look forward to: a smart denim work shirt and cotton-canvas bomber."
